Lexar Professional Workflow Reader Solution

The Free Dictionary (www.freedictionary.com) defines the word “adrenaline” as the following:

“a hormone that is secreted by the adrenal medulla in response to stress and increases heart rate, pulse rate, and blood pressure, and raises the blood levels of glucose and lipids.”

If I were to attach the word adrenaline to something of a technological advancement, it would be the new Lexar Professional Workflow HR1. This new hub is a necessity for the working photographer that needs his/her images downloaded as quickly as possible.

As an international professional sports photographer, I know the need for speed. It can be really frustrating sitting at the side of the swimming pool in the Aquatic Centre of an Olympic Games where the need for speedy downloads is of utmost importance. You have to get your pictures out as the competition is fierce, both in and outside the pool.

At most sports events, I use 3 Nikon cameras. All my memory cards are Lexar Professional 1000x 16GB as I need the fastest writing cards possible.

This is where the hub comes in as I can download 4 cards simultaneously.

The hub can take up to 4 (four) Lexar Professional Workflow card readers.

  • Lexar Professional Workflow SR1 (SD UHS-I USB 3.0 Reader)
  • Lexar Professional Workflow CFR1 (CompactFlash USB 3.0 reader)
  • Lexar Professional Workflow XR1 (XQD USB 3.0 reader)
  • Lexar Professional Workflow CR1 (CFast 2.0 USB 3.0 reader) (TBA)

Please note that the cards are sold separately. The great thing about the hub is that you can purchase the card reader/s of your choice. The card readers can also be used singularly so you don’t always have to use the hub.

My Test

The hub is 14,5cm high, 10,5cm wide and 8,5 cm deep. When travelling, I would rather pack the hub in a suitcase to protect as I don’t think it will fit into my loyal travel gear companion, my ThinkTank Shape Shifter.

So, I put the hub to the test. Bear in mind that the hub needs to be connected to electricity to work at its full capacity. For those of you that use Photo Mechanic (www.camerabits.com) , I added a caption with the import. My Lexar Professional 1000x card had 1716 NEF (Raw) images totaling 15,98GB. The hub took 13min 36 sec to download. I have no doubt that the new Lexar Professional HR1 will revolutionise your workflow and diminish your coffee/smoke break time.

At the recently held CES 2014 in Las Vegas, USA, the new Lexar Professional Workflow Reader Solution won the prestigious Videomaker, Best of CES 2014 Spotlight Award. It is the one product that save you enough time to do what you do best, “Get behind your camera and shoot.”

My advice to all photographers who value their images and work, is to only use the trusted name in memory, Lexar Professional. It’s no use you have a great camera (Nikon) awesome lenses (Nikon) but you are stingy on paying for the best memory card there is. You cannot afford mishaps. Those moments will never return.

When memory matters, the choice is Lexar
